Cherry Bomb Glasspack
A Cherry Bomb glasspack muffler, is a kind of automobile muffler in which the exhaust fumes
from the engine pass straight through the center of the muffler. Cherry Bomb glasspack mufflers, like
other glasspacks, have packed fiberglass that surrounds the exhaust channel that helps absorb the high
frequency sounds emitted by your engine.
All mufflers are designed to hinder the flow of exhaust gases in order to create back pressure
for the engine. The Cherry Bomb Glasspack muffler’s design reaches a very health compromise in the
trade-offs of noise, back pressure and cost. At entry prices lower than $50, there’s no better value in
the industry than a Cherry Bomb glasspack. However, replacing the factory muffler is not for
everyone. Please be aware that it will create less back pressure, and this has the byproduct of
allowing the engine to breath more freely. While you will likely see performance increases, it may come
at the expense of fuel economy.
The Cherry Bomb glasspack is an older, very simple and inexpensive design. Despite being
a straight through pipe, it is still very effective at reducing back pressure. However, the fiberglass
is designed to only muffle the higher frequencies, so your exhaust system with a Cherry Bomb glasspack will
be quite a bit louder than with a traditional or muffler, such as the OEM muffler.
Some of the other offerings by the Cherry Bomb brand are very similar to the cherry bomb
glasspack of old, but use a more advanced sound-deadening material and technique. Such as using a
stainless steel mesh. Acoustical engineering has come quite a ways since the original release of the
cherry bomb glasspack, so rather you want the original or a later model, there’s something for
everyone.
Simply put though, when it comes to high performance mufflers, the one name that stands apart
above all others is the Cherry Bomb glasspack. This muffler was the original offering of Maremont
Corporation in 1968. With its 2’ core and bright red exterior it is easily the most recognizable muffler on
the market. When someone installs a Cherry Bomb glasspack they are rewarded with one of the most
distinguishable throaty sounds that the exhaust industry has to offer. Not to mention that increased
power that they’ll notice when they hit the gas pedal.
Cherry Bomb Glasspack mufflers feature a straight-through design with 100 percent welded
aluminized steel construction and their classic high-temperature red finish. These mufflers are
recommended for car and truck applications, the Cherry Bomb Glasspack has a compact round body and a
reversible design that allows for maximum installation flexibility.
The original Cherry Bomb Glasspack had a brightly painted steel housing, a metal baffle
interior channel surrounded with a layer of fiberglass insulation. Today’s Cherry Bomb Glasspack is produced
from high quality cold rolled aluminized tubing, and features a more durable, rust resistant powder coat ,
still in its characteristic red color. Tuned to perfection in a first class dyno facility, the Cherry Bomb
Glasspack still has a throaty sound and is available for most make & model vehicles.
